Sometimes, quality emergency care can feel financially out of reach. Baylor Scott & White Emergency Hospitals provide quality emergency care to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay. We partner with the Helping Hands Act to offer emergency care payment assistance.
The Helping Hands Financial Assistance Program was created to help uninsured or underinsured patients. If you face financial difficulties, we can help you access emergency healthcare services. Delaying treatment due to financial challenges can have serious health consequences. As dedicated medical professionals, we’re committed to ensuring that financial concerns should not prevent patients from seeking emergency care.

Who Qualifies for Hospital Financial Assistance
The medical bill assistance program is generally aimed at patients who lack insurance coverage for their medical expenses, either partially or completely. We review each application individually and consider the size of your medical bill compared to your income. Some specific qualifying criteria are:
✓ Patients with a total family income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines may qualify for full financial assistance.
✓ Patients with family incomes between 200% and 500% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines who have medical bills exceeding 5% of their total yearly income are eligible for a discount.
Required Documentation
You’re typically required to submit documentation that verifies your need for hospital financial assistance. This may include:
- Recent pay stubs
- Wage and tax statement
- Employer telephone confirmation
- Proof of unemployment insurance
- Proof of participation in various governmental assistance programs
- Bank and credit statements
- Any other relevant documentation that confirms your reported income
