Inpatient Hospital Care Services

Some serious medical conditions require patients to spend one or more nights at a medical facility so healthcare professionals can monitor their condition and administer treatment. Baylor Scott & White Emergency Hospitals‘ inpatient hospital care services aim to give each patient the best chance at making a full recovery while also ensuring their stay is comfortable, safe and supportive.

Seamless Transition From Emergency to Inpatient Care

Our hospitals’ 24/7 emergency departments have the staff and equipment needed to treat a wide variety of serious medical situations. If you experience an emergency medical issue, emergency care stabilizes your condition, but some patients require continued monitoring and treatment afterward. Transferring you to our inpatient unit allows us to keep a close eye on your condition. It also reduces the need for additional transfers during treatment and recovery.

Having an inpatient unit at the same location as the emergency department ensures continuity between diagnosis, treatment and recovery. It also improves communication between emergency and inpatient medical staff members. This coordinated approach helps support a smoother recovery process.

Personalized Care in a Comfortable Setting

Our hospitals provide compassionate, round-the-clock care to all our patients. You will receive treatment that suits your medical needs, current health situation and recovery goals. Private rooms, coordinated care teams and a quiet environment help support comfort and recovery during your stay.

Our medical staff will monitor your condition regularly and adjust treatment plans as your condition changes. We also coordinate with your primary care physician to help ensure continuity of care and full awareness of your medical history. If specialized care is needed, telehealth services provide access to additional specialty support. In cases requiring a higher level of treatment, our team can also coordinate a transfer to the nearest appropriate specialty hospital.

Family members are an important part of the recovery process and visitation is available throughout the day and night whenever possible. Before discharge, our care team will provide follow-up instructions, recovery guidance and additional information to help support your continued care at home.
